A Mission from the Heart
The H4H&H Story
I started the Hearts4Healing project in Spring of 2020, when my mother was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. I made the first pillow to help in her recovery from her mastectomy. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, no guests or visitors were allowed in the hospitals or treatment centers, and she had to undergo all of her chemo and radiation treatments and doctor appointments alone. She spent a lot of time in waiting rooms and brought the heart pillow with her. She said that it was “like a hug she could hold”... I decided everyone in treatment needs a hug, and started making pillows for breast cancer patients at Moffitt Cancer Center. Since 2020, with the help of friends and caring volunteers, we have donated hundreds of pillows to support cancer patients at Moffitt, to pediatric patients at JHOP All Children’s Hospital, and directly to patients through friends and family requests. There is a lot of love in each of our pillows. All of the pillows are made from pre-washed new fabric and are heat-sterilized before packaging. We hope that through this small gesture we can bring a touch of comfort, healing, and hope to patient or family during a challenging time. With healing hugs, Kat Repka |
